Enclosed Trailer question

What is the biggest benefit of having Torsion suspension versus springs on an enclosed trailer? I have a chance to get a killer deal on a 7x27 but it has springs instead of torsion. I would be saving $1138 dollars plus this one has two tinted windows and a matching aluminum spare.

Torsion axles would provide a more stable ride, especially with a load. With torsion axles, not only is the coach height from the ground is not as high as those with leaf springs, they will also outlast a leaf.-Mezz

both have plusses and minus's. a plus for that trailer, if you are handy, you'd be able to find an axel is something went wrong at most any Fleet Farm or parts store. I think the torsion are much harder to find if you get in a pickle on the road.

Smoooother torsion axle....

The torsion axle is so smooth. Four wheel independent suspension. That is, the ride is better. Tow with a leaf buggy spring and I guarantee things will have moved around the trailer. With a torsion, when you pack it, 700 miles later your sleds and stuff will be where they started.jmo.
As far as finding a spring at a Farm and Fleet, you are correct. But F&F does sell the entire torsion axle.

So by saving 1400 plus dollars (with windows) is it worth going with spring axles? Towing with a 1500 LTZ suburban with autoride?

In my opinion, absolutely not worth the price difference. Like stated here torsion axles have such a superior cargo ride quality and towing manners there is no reason to go with springs. The last enclosed spring trailer I used was an older haulmark 2 place side by side, kind of a weird set up, like half of an enclsed 4 place today with the wheels underneath it. I would have to have two sleds full of fuel and everything else I could fit to make it pull decent behind a F350 extended cab longbox. I couldnt even think about pulling it empty, granted it was an extreme example but no comparison to a torsion set-up.
