Escanaba, Gladstone, Rapid River to the east

Been researching a trip east through the UP starting in WI, and need to know if the trail (2?) continues through the Rapid River area and east. The website info I have found says the Felch Grade to the west and the Nahma Grade to the east DO NOT connect????
Can anyone who has been riding in this area get me up to speed on how to get through Rapid River.

As far as I know, unless something changed, there is no trail through Escanaba once you get there from the west. We did this a few years back. It was not a fun experience finding our way through there. We ended up in Rapid River after dark, but finally found a trailhead outside of town where we were finally able to continue on east. correct. no trail, but it can be done. There is a trail that was sometimes groomed to the Gladstone High School.

I knew I could get a heads up here, thanks guys , it would have been a big mistake. to go that way....I guess from riding mostly in WI or central UP I assumed you could get to a connecting trail no matter where you were headed.
We will have to head farther north into the UP and then head east.
