Fall Colors

I know this is a ways away and many things can influence when things change, but is there a general timeframe that the UP's colors typically turn? Trying to do some planning for a fall trip and while I won't hold you to it, I'm trying to narrow down a window of time.

I won't speak for John, but the last week of Sept and first week of Oct has been a bullseye for us. Hands down, one of the best times to be in the north woods!

There is a little bit of a variance in the peak color times for different areas of the UP. In general, the closer to the lake, the later the change. I would say that from the Houghton/Hancock area north to Copper Harbor, the peak is from around October 6-11. As Woodtic stated, for areas south of there, it is around 7-10 days earlier.

Thanks guys. Seems close to some of the trail clean up dates so maybe I'll have to look into combining the two this year. Then again, a lot can change in the next 3 months so we'll see what happens.
