Heading up next week for several days vacation, never been in this area before.

Do plan on taking the Agawa Canyon train trip

Looking for a few tips on what else to do, going with my wife and 18 year old daughter. Local festivals, hidden oddball places to check out, etc

The Agawa Canyon is a great trip, make sure you have a camera along. Food on the train is expensive, we went to a grocery store and took our own stuff along in a small cooler. Have a good time!

Just a little west, White Fish Point and the Ship wreck museum. Very interesting and give you a great idea about life on the Great Lakes.

I was born in the Soo and there are some cool things to do and see. Go on the Valley Camp lake freighter and get a close up of life on the lakes. Tower of History next to Saint Marys Church has a great veiw. Take Portage Ave east over the canal and see the longest hydo plant in the world. Want a good steak? Stay on Portage ave past the canal and on your right you will find the Antlers Grill. This place is full of stuffed animals, deer, fish, snakes and such, and if you are lucky the horns and alarms will be set off by the bartender. Best burgers in town, take Portage ave west past the locks and when it curves to the left take a right go under the rail bridge and hit the West Pier drive in. Best homade burgers ever and car hop service...don't see that much anymore. Take a ride on the Soo Locks boat tour also on Portage ave and go right through the locks. You can also take the "rubber neck express" tour train that takes you around town and shows the high lights. (thats what we called it when we were kids) Want to gamble? Take Portage to the east again and follow the signs the the Casino where everybody's a winner...yeah right. I am sure you will find things that you will like up there. Let us know how you trip goes.....have fun.

Great suggestions, all.

Will try to hit as many as possible

Coming back the lower michigan route. My wife used to vacation in Glenn when she was growing up, but has never been there since, so might stop by there. Might also spend a day along the east shore of Lake Michigan. If we do, will be on July 4th. Any suggestions on best place for holiday festivities to take in?
