Have a new sled sitting in the garage, all excited for the storm that's
coming in, and then found out will not be able to ride this weekend in WI
because of the antler-less 4 day hunt. UUUGGGGGGGHHHHHHHH. =('

I feel your pain for sure. Hmmm, I wonder how many hunters will be out this weekend, compared to how many snowmobiles would be out if they could? Stupid Wi DNR.

Skylar- Totally agree, just think how much they could make nabbing people.
Hunting $$$ VS. Tickets given out, Hmmm I dunno seems like a no brainer to me!

Dane co will be open if trails are marked 6 in of snow and all paperwork is singed and turned in to dane co parks. last year we opened dec 8.Some parts of the state don't open until after the deer hunt because landowner request

4 day anterless Deer hunting in Green and Lafayette county this weekend. Many trails not yet marked due to harvest, getting closer, you will need to check statelinetrailblazers.com for trail opening in Green County.

Bang the ditches, With the wind projected and a foot of snow, WHOOO HOoo!

^^^^^What he said..I live here in wisconsin...and I will be riding..in the ditches until the trails open, and of course hopefully going north to the yoop.

Have you got any friends with farm fields??? Private property you can ride all you want...find a farmer friend (who doesn't have any winter crops)..ask if you can play in the fields...just watch the barbwire, and irrigation ditches

I may be wrong but I thought state funded trails couldn't open until 12-15. Most of our trails aren't marked completely due to standing corn.

It depends on the weather, crops, land owners, DNR and Hunting. All the stars need to align, which we had the last couple of years. October rain threw a big monkey wrench into the works for 2009 opening. The "Snowball" affect is in full swing, so to speak. As much as I would love to get out there this weekend, I will be going to the UP.

Best information is from the local clubs, Stateline trailblazers updates the website when the trails are open in Green County. I will check with the local trailbosses for an update. As of yesterday, there were several trails still unmarked due to late harvest.

We all love to ride for sure. The trails & the info you need come from a CLUB. If you are not a member of a club get out there and JOIN ONE! Then get your buddies to join. Its a good time I swear it is. Then when the snow comes, you will know all the rules / details for trail openings. This also helps to maintain the trail system that does not just happen for you to ride on. Sorry about that, Im off the soap box now. Enjoy the snow!

Couldn't agree more! Our club recieves it's state funding from 12-15 to 3-15. Opening any earlier or staying open later is totally by club decision. I don't want to be on a soapbox but alot of people take for granted how much work goes into maintaining and upkeep on a trail system. This definatly isn't what this thread started out as, trust me it's just as frustrating for all of us with sleds sitting in waiting and big snow falling and boy is it falling right now!

you gents are dead spot on, I am in two clubs one north of the border and one south of it.

Donate some time, sell some calendars, mark some trails, talk to landowners.
