Wow!
Where was all this snow back in November/December?
In My neck of the woods,... 40 miles Northeast of Green Bay,...
We saw our FIRST meaningful snow!
Looked Awesome!
O.K.,... I'll get out there by 6:45AM,... Get the Driveway cleared for the
wifey,... then get some "local" sledding in on the new sled!

Long story short (or even longer),.... You Youngin's out there,...
Enjoy your "mobility" while you can! :)

My "brain" still says I'm in my mid 20's / Early 30's,....
But,....
Reality says D U D E,..... 51 shouldn't feel like 75!

So, I get all dressed for the snow removal ( close to a foot! ),...
and go out in the garage and open the door. Holy Cow,... is this
ever some Snowman packing snow or what??
I shovel a bit over to the out-garage and fire up the snowblower.
UGH! had to "unclog" it 4 times before I even got to the end of the
snow-plowed 4' clogged driveway entrance. No problem. GRRRRRRRRR!
Oh Oh? Snowblower is toast. :(
Shoveled the large driveway the "old fashioned way". Get THAT done around Noonish,... then head over to the folks (elderly) to see If I can
lend Dad a hand. His snowblower also became Toast.
After 4 changes of soak and wet clothing,... and finally getting home at
4pm. My mobility has taken a severe downward slide.
No problem. Lets get the sled out!
P O U R I N G,....... R A I N !
UGH!
My ambition took a crapper.
Save the sledding for Saturday. Cuz Next Tuesday's predicted temps
are in the mid to High 40's.
Still,...
Happy to see the snow.
Now,...
Where did I put those oxycodone's? and the Bio-Freeze?

Drive safely out there friends!
and Keep Thinking Snow!

BIGVIN: i am so glad that its not just me !! after doing the driveway raking roof , clearing deck , i just cant jump on the sled and take a ride! i am 61 and run out of gas too fast, maybe i need 5hr energy drinks !! LOL

Had a simular day Big Vin thought I could ride leave the clearing for later. Too much snow to ride to trails 2 feet in my face & over the hood had to turn back. Spent the day clearing snow & I too sweated thru 3 sets of clothes with this heart attack snow. Had an interesting day to say the least.:)

Booondocker: To ticked off to look at it. Sounds like the gears again.
I'm tired of putting money into it. Paid Big bucks a few years back for
it (Craftsman walk behind). (9 horse).
Suppose to get up to 6 more inches by Saturday afternoon. hopefully
THAT will be shovel-able.
Maybe next year I'll try to get a big used tractor/blower off of craigslist
or something?
Just seems the last couple of years,.. the only B I G snows have come as
Very heavy wet stuff. Have to get something that can take it.
Seems plow trucks just rip up the yard.
Oh well.

Snowblowers - Usually a love/hate relationship but mine has treated me pretty well considering...

I bought mine used from a guy in the U.P. about 13 years ago. Now who in their right mind buys a used snowblower from the U.P.? But there's a method to my madness. I figured it was "conditioned" for anything and I think I was right. I swear this thing scoffs at everything that the weather throws at it down here.

BigVin, at least your area has some riding potential now. You'll recover quickly. Sadly, we stand a good chance of running the table here in the southern part of the state and not having any rideable snow this winter.

I shoveled (more like squeegeed) the inch of snow/water off my driveway last night, taking a break now and then to watch minature icebergs floating down the street/river in front of the house.

I think I have that same craftsman snowblower! It is a murray with sears craftman paint job. This year I bought an old 72 Dodge with a snowplow. The snowblower has not been started one single time since.

I have an old (1960's?) craftsmen snowblower that just won't quit. Don't really get to use it much, but that thing chewed up and spit out a "welcome" mat without hesitation. Works good on snow too!! They don't make them like that anymore!!!

Could get up to 6 more inches by tomorrow locally.
My "auger" blades seem to be made out of beer cans.
you can bend them easily by hand. Was in Menards yesterday,
and one of their "Murry's" Had really thick blades with notched
scerated (sp. frnash) tips. Looks like it could chew thru leather!
Maybe next year,... along with an old plow truck or tractor?

Took the sled out for 3 miles around the yard last night. Lots of deep
slush,... but still fun. I work midnights Sat. So hopefully hit the trails (or fields) locally during the day and then again on Monday.
Local weather dudes are now predicting 50's for next Wed./Thur.
I sure hope not.
If so,... then let 'er go!
I hated this winter. Hoping next year brings snow in November like it should
and it STAYS til this time.

Craigrev: I think Sears had "contracted" out to a BETTER supplier back then.
With the one I have now,.... I'd be better off following a roto-tiller with
a big shovel!

Well the running out of steam bit... I can relate to. I sometimes get spooked ie : I can't see good, hearing is shot, memory is questionable, and it takes me 1 hour to wake up and get moving... I think I have some strange disease.... but then when I spend time with my elderly parents and relatives .... getting older sucks. No bed of roses or " golden years " that I can see coming. Ride when you can.

Now on the other hand, my Ariens chews , shovels, throws rocks and anything else in it's way. At most is 11 yrs old and has sheared a couple of pins. Will admit that getting a twisted up shovel out can be a challenge. Nothing like kids....

Serrated, Adjective: Having or denoting a jagged edge; sawlike: "a knife with a serrated edge". :)
