Are there any bars or stops that are a must? We will be staying in the Twin Lakes area, but riding to Copper Harbor and south towards Greenland/Mass city area.
What are some of the neat bars and "holes in the wall" to stop at?
Any honest input is appreciated!

Also, in no particular order.

"Hole In the Wall joints" (fun, but not fancy):
Luigi's, Calumet
Drift Inn, Copper City
Vansville Bar, Phoenix
Gay Bar, Gay
Dreamland Motel, Dreamland/Jacobsville

A little more upscale (for the UP!):
Loading Zone II and American Legion, Lake Linden
Shutes and Michigan House, Calumet
White House Inn, Mohawk
Eagle Harbor Inn, Eagle Harbor
Bear Belly, Lac La Belle
Zik's and Mariner North - Copper Harbor

That should get you started here on the north end!

(TEAM HENNESSEY FAVE'S) Bug bar of coarse! also we like to go to the Michigan House in Calumet, and Bear Belly's in Lac la Belle has about the best views from a deck you can ever see with out going to the real mountains! Cliffview is a fave too!
and lake Linden's Loading Zone is a good stop too, sign the "guest book"I have been signing that book since I was called Scotticat! and Fridays at the Ramada for a little Karaoke with Euel is always a good time!

Holy crap...I better plan a few more days to hit these places. Great stuff though. Our group always enjoys stopping at these places to have a beer and a burger. Good to support the local places and have a friendly chat with fellow sledders and locals!

Minnesota has been a bust this year (except for the past few days in northern MN), so we are pumped about the U.P.

IF you want to eat Friday night you have to go to Henrys in Rockland. The buffet is great not fancy but well worth it.

Also, any tips on where Mr. Dee hangs out would be great. I have always wanted to meet the legend in person. This is an awesome site and he deserves an handshake and a beer on me!

If you like beer...Michigan House in Calumet, the Library, and the Keweenaw Brewing Company (both in Houghton) all brew their own. KBC is just a tap room but well worth a stop.

Also I second John's recommendation of Shutes in Calumet. Very cool original bar where very little has changed in the past 100 years.

Well, if its this weekend, then I will be at the Red Fox Saloon in Togwotee WY.

Otherwise, despite my long list of watering holes, I do not frequent the bars too much. Bear Belly is a favorite stop as it is usually a great mid-ride break to warm up, fuel up the sled and body and get back at it. If I am with my regular riding buddies, then we tend to end up in the Cliff View many times.

if staying in twin lakes, stop for breakfast, lunch or dinner at krupps, it looks like a gas station (and it is) but also have great food and the pasty's are something we stop in for everytime were up there, it makes a great dinner as they are plenty big or a great lunch if you want to split one, feels weird eating at a gas station but it's well worth it.

If you can't stop there for breakfast, lunch, or dinner, you can always bring a few home, they sell them frozen and are a great meal at home to invoke memories of the trip.
