Brooks lake lodge. Bring lots of money. Do the dog sled ride if you are bringing a wife or girlfriend. They have a day spa so the hot rock treatment is worth a try. Did I say bring lots of money! The food is great there. Have them point you in the direction of Upper Brooks lake to ride. http://www.brookslake.com/lodge/webcam.html If you got women in tow thats the place to go! You will score points a plenty. If it is just guys going I would look into something far more affordable such as Lava Mtn. Lodge just down the mtn. aways. But this season getting up to the snow from Lava may require trailering. http://www.lavamountainlodge.com/

I just got back from Togwotee and we rode for 3 days. On one day the guide took us to Brooks for lunch, and man can I tell you it is beautiful and they have plenty of snow. As for the money I only ate lunch there but it did not seem to out of line for being in the middle of nowhere. I would recommend drinking as much water as you can stand. I woould start drinking now and I would start working on your cardio so you don't become winded. If you are trail riding you should be fine, however if you are off trail riding you'll be working and become winded. If you have a backpack bring that so you can put all your stuff in while your riding such as water and snacks. The main thing is have fun and be careful it is hairy out there with the terain. It was my first time and I loved it. By the way I experienced trouble sleeping for the first 2 nights, they told me this is common. Also bring some excedrin or tylenol I did get some headaches as well.

friend that i'm going with has been out there before and have friends and family there.hope weather holds out for another couple weeks!!started doing some power walks to get in shape hope it helps.
thanks again for info

Stay with the friends and family if you can, either they work there or are Billionaires. There is no there about Brooks Lake lodge. It is where the Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous would do a shoot on how to spend wads of cash. You get Dog sledded in or a van with tracks instead of wheels brings you in. The lodge is about 5 miles or more from the parking area. Last I heard it is no longer owned by Aramark or the previous owners of Togwotee Lodge.

http://www.brookslake.com/lodge/reservations/rates-availability.html Read the fine print. Rates start at $250 per person dbbl. oc. then 8% sales tax, then 15% whatever fee, tips all along the way, cost of getting out there and it goes on and on. My wife and I planned to stay there about 4 years ago and to do it up right it was about $2300 per night for a suite. 3 night minimum. Togwotee looked like the deal of a life time after that. Great place for lunch! Brooks is thee place to be if you got the coin to do it. It would make the ultimate Honeymoon destination for a sledding couple.

Keep in mind I only ate lunch there so I would have no idea what the rooms cost. I can tell you one thing it is gorgeous and the views are probably what you are paying for. If you are only going to ride you may want to reconsider, if cost is a factor.

keep you all informed on how it goes.may be my only trip out so i will get lots of pictures and share when i get back.leaving next thurdsday morning.

If you have the chance go to Brooks Lake. My wife and I spent a week there for our honeymoon, definately worth it. Check the web site, the prices are 250 per person per night, not 2300 per night. Still expensive, but you do get what you pay for. You have to remember that includes 3 meals a day that are of 5 star quality. Rooms are outstanding. Very good staff. Makes you feel at home. The atmosphere can't be beat. When we were there, it was not associated with Togwotee, it was privately owned. Riding was great. They have some of the best guides in the area. Rode with Joe H. he was very knowledgable and helpfull and a great rider.
