Heading to my Cabin in Long lake in a few weeks. Wondering how the conditions are that way? Also most of the time we ride West and north from Long Lake. I will have my step son who is still new to driving and want make a loop over towards Fence and up to Spread eagle, Florence and then back to to tipler. Anyone have an idea of mileage from Long Lake to Fence or Florence area? Thanks is Advance

conditions aren't perfect but they are more than rideable. fence to long lake is a good 45minutes to an hr. at least the way I drive. fence to Florence is about the same. Florence to spread eagle is probably only about 15 minutes.

I rode trail 2 Thursday (the 11th) from Spread Eagle west to Iron River and Florence trails are in better shape than Iron County's trails. I think very rideable. Just cold!

Well since this is the only weekend the boy and I can get away and he has not got to ride all year we are going to head to the cabin today to rise saturday and sunday, hopefully. As of last night trails were as good as they have been all year from talking to local up there. SO today will be the killer if it rains a lot, hoping for no rain and clouds. I will report after weekend what trails are like after the warm weather.

I'm here in Spread Eagle now and so far we have lost about an inch of snow overnight due to either melting or settling. I'm seeing 36 degrees, cloudy and no rain so far. I rode from Phelps to twin lakes down to sidnaw then back to phelps yesterday so I did not see any Florence trails, but up until last night I would agree with what you heard from the Locals. I'm anxiously waiting to see what happens today and tonight too since my son is up here to ride as well. Our last day to ride for the season is tomorrow and we are hoping it will be possible.

Good to hear, I was thinking of leaving long lake heading to Fence, over to spread eagle, Florence, tipler and back to long lake. We shall see

Well went and rode 160 miles in Florence and forest counties. From long lake to fence was awesome. Fence to Florence was great until about 3 miles from Florence. Florence was all ice and dirt with not much snow on trail. From Florence to tipler was rough getting out of Florence but halfway to tipler on 6w it got good again. Then rode the grade down to laona. Some spots where bad and some good. Went to jonnies resort to watch the laona 500 and then headed back on 9n which was great and then back to the grade. Bottom line, great base on many of trails, roads and towns are thin from rain and warm weather. A nice 4" snow would put all trails on great shape. But I am glad we went to ride today.
