Ford F-150 Dome/back light question

I have a 2003 Ford F-150 and this winter from time to time when you would close the doors the dome light and the light on the back of the truck would not go off. Even when I hit my key less lock to lock the doors they would stay on. It seems to only do it when there is moisture present! Wondering if there is a sensor somewhere on one of the doors to check and see if it is getting wet or going bad? I had to pull the fuse out so my battery wouldnt drain! Any info of what to check would be great thanks

I believe the switch is part of the door latch. I had this issue on a Explorer my wife had. Spray that area with WD-40 when it gets warmer.

Thanks for the info guys ill give the wd-40 a try. And even if I flip the interior lights to off the back light still stays on that's why I had to pull the fuse.

i had the same problem with one of my old trucks and yes the switches are in the door latches .spray them up good and work the latches when you do .not sure what was wrong with the old style .thats high tech for you .

Your door pin switches need replacing they're located inside the door panel and connected to the latch mechanism... Replace both drivers and passenger side to save on troubleshoot'n...You can spray WD 40 into the latch and that may free it up for a while but will soon return... Mine would just barely flicker once and set off the aftermarket alarm...

x2. Don't replace them yet. Seen it thousands of times here at the dlrshp. Spray the sh*t out of the latches and open and close the door 20-30 times to work it in to the latch assy. Be sure to spray around all over in there with the lube and you should be good to go. We rarely have to replace the switches.

My 98 ranger did it about 7-8 years ago. I sprayed them good and it lasted a few years. Sprayed them again and it never showed up again.
