Not exactly what you are looking for, but just drove through HWY U heading north to the UP and Florence Co looked great from driving on the road and looking at the trail. I would guess near there is also good.

Wabeno is a good place to drop.
Some annoying gravel mixed in with the snow on the NST...SS6 and LMT 7 and 8 are great trails .....also any trail that leads to Johnnies...SS3, 4, 5.
Grab a map....300 miles with the LMT and 100 miler trails.

rode yesterday from white lake to lily, then E. to the NST just south of carter, then N. to white tails, some surface stones just south of cty G, other than that the grade was very good, much evidence of recent grooming, back tracked to laona for fuel, then west to johnnies, only one snowmobiler there--very unusal, trail from laona to johnnies quite icy. worked my w. to the wrst & back to white lake. all trails were a 10 or very close to it. the area by cty G would be the exception.

Good to hear a full report on the NST. I admit the area I rode with the RR stone mix was right where you mentioned between Laona and Hy. G or so. We then took the Black Bear trail west to Argonne which was as good as it can be for the snow they have.
Watch for icey cond. everywhere. So good to have gone back to studs with my sleds.

Rode Dunbar, Pembine and Niagara last night. Good to very good. There is a big group of UTV's here this weekend so I hope everything stays good.

I ride this area all the time. Bud has a place on Wolf lane in Silvercliff right off the power line. Been dealing with the quads for years. I've followed them on the trail before and for the most part if the trail has a solid base these quads are too light to do any damage to the trail, i've personally never seen them rut up a trail. I would argue with you the yahoo's that rooster corners, bridges and stop lights on sleds to more harm than the quads.
I'm talking like the quads tho,, not the Polaris Rangers, or Cam Am commanders or Mavericks. Never seen them on the trail yet,,, fortunately.

UTV's just destroy the trails, they should not be allowed on the trails in the winter!!!!![/QUOTE

Agree with the UTV's in the area. I ride these trails maybe 1-2x's per year and often avoid it due to the ruts.
