Good Luck to Matt! Still a good, solid back. Very dependable. Not a show off. Just a get-r-doner.

I think he would have been a great addition to GB. He can run, block and is one of the best pass catchers out of the backfield. He could have joined GB and been in the Super Bowl hunt every year. Not sure Jets will make a big push for SB.

I agree durphee. He sure could have give them some stability in the backfield. Something they need.

yah just another example of $ trumping all.
his agent said a day before he signed he wanted to go to a team with a realistic chance of winning the SB, then he signs with the jets. good luck Matt.

GB needed to get off their butts to sign Matt and didn't. More free agents leave GB than they sign just not part of their game....sad to say.

I am glad they didn't sign Forte. You guys always get so hung up on overpriced free agents. How did Allen, Marshall, etc work out? Heck I didn't even like the Peppers signing.

Packers make playoff every year. You cannot win SB without making playoff. Obviously Ted Thompsons way of doing business works.

Watch how well Denver does this year. Same with Dolphins, who as I recall many including WD said would be stout last year.

People need lessons in how the salary cap works.

I agree about 70% of what you said.
Washington and Miami are two teams who come to mind (Raides also) who throw money at the first available FA and these teams haven't made the playoffs in a combined 20 years with the RG3 rookie year being the exception.

I personally was fine standing put. There was no one out there that was gonna tip the scales for GB. If Lacy comes back fit which sounds like he's on his way and Starks back were fine at RB. Forte wasn't the reason weren't going to the SB.
Casey Hayward? Great call not paying in 7 mill guaranteed. No thanks.

We sure could use a solid experienced TE but just don't think there's anything out there.

Don't get me wrong GB is in good shape player wise need a good tightend and Forte would have helped Arod a lot for dumps offs he does so well. If it was me incharge of GB I prolly would continue to build from the draft or trade as has worked well for them. I thought if really interested in Forte Thompson needed to get aggressive & he didn't as far as I know. Maybe Forte would not of helped that much but easy to imagine Forte could turn an Arod scramble into a check down TD. Meantime DA Bears are busy signing second tier free agents for their D that can play 3-4 & look a lot stronger on paper & with a bunch of draft picks to go. I thought Da Bears rebuilding was a 5 year plan but looking much quicker with Pace & Fox at the reins. GB and Bears are both at a crossroads in their personel. Bears are in a youth movement & need to get a whole lot better asap & GB needs to keep moving forward to win SB before age moves in. It will be interesing to see how this all plays out.

I still thin he would make a great addition to GB. And yes, I know how the cap works - but thanks for asking. You build a team through drafting, you supplement through trades or acquiring. Comparing Forte to Allen or Marshall, that's a stretch, but not even worthy comparison.
The Pack do make the playoffs every year but last time I checked winning the Super Bowl was the goal. Rodgers, one of the best all time QB's, has one Super Bowl. His time is limited and making a push for SB is limited also. The Pack needs defense obviously and spending their money there does make sense.
And didn't Denver just have an amazing 4 year run due to.....acquiring a free agent?
