Can't remember a time where that has happened!

The world turned upside down on its axes one night while we were all sleeping and the heat rises to the top. That's my answer. (No I have not been drinking). :)

Let's blame El Nino and La Nina. That has been the scape goat for years. John, not sure on one of the rules so I will put this out there for everyone, Does anyone think that all the heat man creates along with things such as Volcanoes, solar flares, forest fires, etc. That the planet has to be getting hotter. Everything we do creates heat, even air conditioning, how can the planet not be getting warmer? Can heat dissapate into the atmosphere? Is the heat held in some how? (coffee is kicking in). Is it true that an adult puts off about the heat of a 100 watt light bulb, yes I understand some are dimmer then others.

About 15 years ago I spent Christmas in Scottsdale. Half inch of snow on the ground on top of Camelback Mountain, and it was 55 degrees back home in Chicago. Didn't seem right then, the current weather sure doesn't seem right now

Yep, in the 80s last week now this! Funny you didn't mention the two feet of snow at Flagstaff! (Now that's gotta hurt!) :p

I too live in Phoenix/Scottsdale and cannot believe when I call my dad back in Eau Claire and he mentions 75 and shorts and I mention 50-55 and jackets. Never thought it would be worthwhile having a snowmobile in my garage here but after hearing of 30 plus inches around snowbowl I'm really wishing I did. I use this site to live vicariously through all my fellow snowmobilers while I'm down here doing law school at ASU. Only 1.5 more years before I'm back sledding at the cabin in the wisconsin northwoods. Great site by the way John. Much appreciated.

Nearly Four Feet of Snow Gone in Two Weeks!

In the wake of an early March winter storm we reached a maximum snow depth for the season of 47 inches here at the National Weather Service on the morning of March 4th. Exactly two weeks later on the morning of March 18th, in the grip of unprecedented record warm temperatures, our snow depth was reduced to little more than a trace. Surprisingly with the rapid snowmelt, no flooding has been reported thus far across west and central Upper Michigan. A big reason we escaped flooding was the lack of significant rainfall which occurred during the rapid snowmelt.

The record warming trend is expected to continue at least into the middle part of this week before a frontal passage ushers in slightly cooler temps for the end of the week. But given the lack of additional significant snowmelt runoff, area rivers and streams should see only subtle rises as levels are expected to remain below bankfull

Well I'm heading that way in 2 weeks and hope I can experience some of that dry desert heat. Though I have noticed the humidity levels are higher with the cool (cold ) weather of late.

When I read the above quote I was (am) sure PR1 meant axis, not axes. And then I thought maybe PR1 did it on purpose for the person the thread was started for; frnash. But the funniest part is that our local spelling and grammar coach, frnash, didn't even catch it. BTW, I'm still loving the lessons daily, thank you.

As far as the weird, strange and early spring we are encountering I can't remember a spring where the driveway had no mud or ruts or a spring when ice-out on our lake didn't happen until after April Fools Day. Ice-out today and you could drive down the driveway and not get any mud on your flaps. WOW!

I saw that, I thought I'd see if someone else caught it. Score one for the beagle! :)

Axis: singular, axes: plural -- (also plural for [woodsman's/lumberman's] ax or axe [variant of ax])!.
The last I checked, the earth had only one (rotational axis), ergo: axis!

Click → The Arizona Snowbowl. On the San Francisco Peaks, 14 miles out of Flagstaff, base elevation 9,200 ft., summit elevation 11,500 ft. The elevation is the main reason for the amount of snow. (Flagstaff itself is at an elevation of 6900 ft.)

In Google Maps, <a href="http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&psj=1&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.r_qf.,cf.osb&biw=1067&bih=669&q=35.330836,-111.710433&um=1&ie=UTF-8&hq=&hnear=0x873279ab00d15fdb:0x3203731f1790050b,%2B35%C2%B0+19%27+51.03" ,+-111°+42'+37.58"&gl="us&ei=xylsT8rsH9T-2QWgvJWCBg&sa=X&oi=geocode_result&ct=title&resnum=1&ved=0CB4Q8gEwAA"" target="_blank">here.

Even though it aint hot for AZ/Phoenix standards, I.ve been here for 3 days and each day is hotter. Maybe upper 80s? today. Took a drive to Sedona today WOW beautiful. But I'm already cookin in the heat. Enough, though pretty darn nice in the evening now.
