Ok.... on back of both my hands small, scabs, slits & 1 small black blister on my right thumb. Nickle size bite on my right face cheek but a$$ cheeks aok... FXR bibs did their job.lol What do I put on frostbite to help heal? I know... I know... dumb as **** to trail ride this AM from -27 Phelps to Lando -30F but had to scratch the itch on my new sled. Any help is appreciated.:)

Aloe, Pete! Lots of Aloe! From a plant, from a tube, in a jar, whatever. It works,

A couple years ago we were on a ride and I got bad frostbite to my whole cheek area on my face. By the time we got to the hotel in Ishpeming my face was swollen up and starting to turn DARK. I went to the pamida and bought a couple types of aloe treatment and doused my face with it covered with gauze.. The next morning the swelling was almost gone and regular color had returned to my face. Although I did get some small scabbing and sore spots afterward, I have no doubt that the Aloe helped immensely.

Just my .02¢....good luck!

I froze my face cheeks a little over a week ago and they have healed up now. I always treat it like a bad sunburn and that has worked well for me. Clean off the dead skin when it peels, put on lotion or aloe and that will help. My face blistered and was dark colored and in a week and a half I have no scars and rode about 30 miles today at -20 with no problems

Caged Beagle's post is very good, I didn't see it until after I hit post on this one.

Agree with the above posts! Got frostbite under my chin and my mask froze right to my skin. After it thawed for a few minutes in the bar i was able to pull it off and applied a room temp rag to it to unfreeze the skin. After that was told to use aloe on the skin till it was all healed. About 1-2 weeks later all healed after the black skin peeled off. And yes to this day when the temp gets to about 30 or under I can feel that area under my chin almost feel like a small burn. Frostbite is no fun.

Wow Pete that's to bad. I used lots of topical antibiotic ointment with cortisone it was the only thing that helped with the pain, then went to aloe for about 6mo. You will need to find something to keep those areas covered

I froze both my hands 2 years ago, cleaning out the freezer, yeah I know pretty stupid of me! Both hands swelled up and turned white almost went to the hospital it was so painful. I didn't lose any skin but they felt like they were going to pop for a long time. Both my hands are very sensitive still so I have a great arsenal of gloves and mittens now

It's just like burns. A&D ointmint is very good. I know, had 3rd degree burns when I was young. Stuffs been around a long time. Good luck and keep the area clean, don't want infection.

Thumb is bandaged that was worst of it been using coconut oil & antibiotic ointment much better today. Back of my hands looks like bare knuckle fight or been wrenching & skinning knuckles. Thanks for all the suggestions. I'll be back out there tomorrow riding having too much fun to stop now.:)

Frostbite is dead skin dude, it can cause serious damage if it goes too far. You act like a little excitable kid with that new XTX and you gotta be older than me!
A few years ago some girl I was with made me go ride in -12, cause 'she didn't want to keep me from doing what I love'. I ended up with two red frostbite marks on my cheeks that took over a week to heal, from the exit exhaust holes on the Modular helmet. That was crazy cold and I wouldn't do it again.

I'm SURE not saying I would do it again!lol Heck I just found out the XTX does have handwarmers :D ...what a difference a 60 degree higher temp can make with riding comfort! I had a super ride today seemed like more traffic in UP than WI. Pow-pow all the way unplowed FRs in wonderful shape & XTX tracks much better than Attak Gt no ghost riding at all just point & shoot handling.:) Your new Rush does not excite you????? :)

Whitedust, ever have a code11 come up on your gauges. I bought a used 2006 attack, and a couple times I would turn key and nothing. Then I would turn again and it would start right up and run great. Now the code 11 is on the gauge and warning and little engine light go on but will not let engine turn over. It's at the dealers now, hoping it won't be a big deal. Sled has 5000 miles on it.
