frozen plow

if any of you guys have cable actuated plows, they're'ye prone to water getting into the valve area under the caps and not allowing the plow to function. My symptom was the joystick would not operate, just stuck! Opened up the caps where the cables go in and found this ice. Gonna have to seal it somehow to keep the water getting in.

I booted the area with a piece of old rubber roofing. Maybe an upside down rubber boot would work too

I slopped on some grease on the outside of the cables and will keep an eye on it. No doubt I need to do something better. If I can get the truck inside and warm it up I will seal it with something.

I had a old plow truck and it was a Frankenstein with a home-made rack mount, a Meyer blade/rack/hydraulics, and a Western lift/motor.

The Western was cable actuated and I just blobbed grease on the cable hookups and everything, and just made sure to store it with it's protector on (modded up 5 gallon bucket).... worked good.... :)

I out RV sealant on my old Western. On the flip side be glad you don't have the electronics to worry about!
