I usually get 13-14 mpg and I ride fairly hard. Mine is a 2006 FST Classic. What are you getting?

Do you plan on buying this year or can you wait a little? The reason I ask is I am hoping that Polaris comes out with an updated 4 stroke this year. I think we will know on Monday when they release 3 new models. I have 12,000 miles on mine and have been mostly very happy with it.

The 2006 was the first year and there were some minor issues that had to be worked out. I have also been replacing items such as bearings, track, battery and the primary clutch this year. I know these items are to be expected with 12,000 miles, but they have caused me too much down time this year at the wrong times. I should have replaced all of the bearings when I did the track but I have learned. Ended up doing the drive bearings at 9,000 during a UP trip and the jack shaft bearing this year at 11,000 on my same weekly UP trip.

sounds like typical maint. to me I am not sure if I would buy a new model poo 4 stroke. At least not the first year out. I am confident in what I hear to buy a 2011 I can get a great deal if I trade my 800 in on one

My girlfriend got 20 mpg putting around all day, and I can get 14 to 18 depending how much of a hurry, I'm in.

My wife has a 2007 FST and she loves it. I have ridden it and gotten 17 MPG riding fairly conservative. The only issue we have had with it was a speed sensor needed to be replaced and was covered under warranty, otherwise bullet proof. This sled gets knocked a lot for being too heavy and quiet for a four stroke, but for a 750cc twin it has a lot of snap thanks to the turbo.

Jeff,

We have three FST's in my family, all 06's. I would say if you want four Stroke I would recommend Yamaha. (we have a Vector as well)

Cannot get parts, on back order, all in shop many times in last two years for various maladies, all with less than 3k miles on them. Great when they run.

One was a leftover purchased in 2009, in shop 8 times, some items such as known issues (jackshaft cover etc) Poo would not cover. Poo covered a new wiring harness on one of them, dealer pulled engine to replace, did not mount back in properly. Found this out from another Poo dealer after sled was in shop two more times. Poo would not cover the issue, and told us to go after the dealer that did the first repair under warranty. That sled still has less than 500 miles on it.

My FST is down right now, needs a fuel pump, cannot find one, on back order from Polaris, poo says supplier issue, current ETA Feb 25th, subject to another extension.

I can go on, and I am sure I will catch heck for my post, we have lost all faith in Poo.

ya just gotta tell it like it is. Ive heard the the 06 models were the worst but that they have gotton better and the 2011's are the best to date. I have contimplated a yami but am not sure about the susp, ride handling, and off speedo I hear soooo much about. I too am a polaris man but with my 09 Iq 800 I am too losing my patience with poo!

Jeff- I love my 07. It did have to get a wiring harness put on it the second year. Covered under warrenty. Great sled tons of pull, off trail is good up to about 3 to 3 1/2 feet of snow. After that you'll be digging her out. She's a little heavy but not real noticable on the trails. I would buy another one in a heartbeat.

Jeff this is the difference between Yam & Poo 4s. I have had all brands & chased around on recalls for this & that on new sleds a real PIA. Yams you close the deal then don't see the dealer again until 500 mile oil change then next to have the sled summerized. Yams are that solid just ride gas & go sleds. They all ride well don't think Yams don't handle well because they do. The Poo FST has glow in that dark turbo & there has been problems with heat build up in clutch belt & some suffer from hot boot. lol Poo may have improved FST but early FST there was countless updates. When buying a 4s sled you should be looking at very little down time just riding & no wrenching good ride & good mpg. FST is old in tooth which may be a good thing when choosing Poo. I not brand loyal I buy best brand bang for the buck but since I ride alone sooooo much my sled must get me home. My Yamaha Attak has never had a recall & never let me down in 7,000+ miles. If you really want to buy a 4s you need to look at Yam then make an informed decision for what is right for you including your dealer.

While you are making an informed decision make sure you compare price tags, it seems that power steering to make you forget about the weight costs a pretty penny.
