fuel gage

I have a 98 formula III 600 with an electronic fuel gage.....It will work if you tap on it but then falls back down to empty....at first thought was gage put another in same thing .....so is it the sender or some electical issue

I would check and make sure that all of the connections are good but im guessing its the sending unit

The only way to solve a problem is through the process of elimination.

Check the sending unit with an ohm meter.

Check for power to the sending unit.

Check all connections for corrosion.

Check the gauge.

Electronic gage

Never trusted the darn electronic gas gages..in the 1st place ( along with the normal float type. ) Good to kinda know but we seem to keep it about 100 miles per tank and fuel up at EVERY oppertunity. You just never know !
