Fun day at the dealer

Has any one else had their sled picked up by a fork truck at the dealer? Took mine to a different dealer this time, and they bring the fork truck out, they had the forks all the way closed and stuck them under the track, then wrapped a strap around the forks and my bumper, then lifted it and told me to pull away. As soon as I did, the thing started to tip and one of the forks fell off and, the sled fell on the ground from about four foot up.
Just can't believe the dealer thinks that is a good idea in the first place.
Well, did about three hundred worth of damage. I just wanted to tell everyone not to let your dealer try this with your sled. Lol

I think using a forklift is quite common at the dealers, this might have been an Operator Issue. When I picked up my current sled they brought it out with the forklift but the forks were outside of the track and skid and resting on the running boards. The same principal as the the two wheeled dolleys.

That's a piece of bad luck there. Be sure it's repaired to your expectations before you take it home.

Yeah Gary, Ive had them pick them up with the forks under the running boards also. I should have told him right away that I didn't want those forks to rip out my picks either.
I'm definitely going to check it over good before I leave there.

darn, real shame, Pats does the fork thing but those guys are good and pick it up length wise just like a dolly does, never seen them mess up yet.

As soon as you started saying straps, I knew it fell off! I know my dealer does the same thing and I also do the same thing at home with my forklift. But they both have extension purposely built to fit under the sled to pick it up like a dolly does.

Man that really sucks! :mad:

Say what???!? Never heard of such nonsense. My dealer (s) pick sleds up with extended length forks with carpet wrapped around them. They pick up sleds under running boards....not under track. How do they plan to set the sled down by that method your dealer used? Must be the fib method?

Ditto.....This could have made the Darwin Award final five if someone was kilt.

I think an all together cooler way would be using a high lift fork truck fitted with a long boom, hook and straps that sling around your bars .....you could stay sitting on it while singing wreaking ball.....just a thought.

They did that to the Dragon when I had it. Broke off the little snow guard in front of the exhaust pipe. Didn't notice it right away. Of course they claimed that it must have already been missing.

The guy did say he was from Michigan, and they do it like that all the time up there.....Lol
