FX Nytro Hand Warmers

Snowbound One

Does anyone know or have any information on how to kick up the heat output on an 08 Yamaha FX Nytro RTX. Two of my friends have heard people have been able to purchase some kind of after-market product that will boost the heat output in the handlebar warmers at lower rpm speeds. Typically the ride is cold on this sled and I am looking to warm it up a bit!

Any insight would be greatly appreciated!

I seem to remember reading some variable output grips for Yami's somewhere you could try the Totally Yamaha forum. As you have probably figured out the bars work as a heat sink, hand guards don't help much. Never tried the Skins flexable hand guards but... I have had luck with filling my bars with minimually expanding great stuff, buying the BRP cork bar stickers and installing elements over the cork and under the soft RSI grips. Also did this with doo grips and will be converting back to POO bars , brp cork, POO elements & RSI grips on a POO here shortly. I even tried some older AC 4 stroke elements on a cold sled a few years back they read the hottest on a pyrometer check at the time. Ended up back in 08 , chopping the hooks off, dual wiring old style cartridge heaters in the bars and HOT GRIPS on the bars, they would get so hot we would shut them off. Actually I tried a few different things over the years, but the BRP cork worked the best . Check out that Yami forum, I do remember something about that VO controller or grips whatever it was ... I do remember it being yami specific. Hope that helps.

Go onto the totallyamaha.com site in the 4 stroke forum. Do a search for the author "Rockmeister". Look for a thread titled something to the effect of "warm hands for your Yamaha snowmobile".

He's the one who developed a kit to make the Yami handwarmers really work. He's sold a ton of them as evidenced by the number of pages in the thread.
