George Hite passed away.

On November 1, George Hite, 80, of Eagle Harbor passed away unexpectedly at his home. George was the Webmaster of this website, active in the Keweenaw County Historical Society, and was an inspiration to many as an early adopter of the Internet.

Rest in peace my friend, you will be missed.

George will be missed by many. His style of writing about life at the harbor was unique and cannot be duplicated. RIP George..........will miss you and your fireside stories.

That's sad to read. I found him and JD through Pasty.com and have no idea how I ended up there a few years ago. What a treasure he was...

RIP George, I too found his site through John's. I loved his way with words. Never met the man, but I did see the Peregrin in the Harbor one time. God bless.
