The wife and i are looking to get a new ride. Really like the aciada. Anyone out there have one. Pros and cons what gas milage u get. We get around 20 with the van we have now so anything over that would be good. Found a good deal on an 08 with 30000 miles on. Does the awd one get worse milage then just the fwd.

We have a 2010 Saturn Outlook XR AWD which is very basically the same as an Acadia.

We bought ours with 10K on it now has 20K in 9 months. The mileage is terrible this winter we got 14.5 MPG which may be off a little due to warming it up in the morning because we have a new baby but that is the biggest complaint I have, we saw about 17 MPG in the summer. My wife typically drives in the city her average speed was 35 MPH according to the computer
It has been in the shop every month since we got it the only major repair was replacing the rack and pinion which they are known for and was covered under warranty. The other problems include 2 broken rear wipers the fuel tank protector rail under the car which was cracked and replaced under warranty. The memory seats, which also adjust the mirrors would not remember the mirror settings and would point to the ground. The sunroof leaked when you go through the car wash.
Some of the trips to the shop also included oil changes so every month may not be all that fair

I know of 2 people that have the Chevy Traverse, same as the Acadia. They have not had any trouble at all, and they both love the way it handles in the snow. A guy I work with said he has never had anything that would go through that much snow. Neither of them has said anything about mileage, but how many SUVs get great mileage.

My sister has the 2wd version and hates it. Not really sure why, said it sucks in snow, but don't know what else. Said she would never get another one.

AWD cost you bout 4 mpg in real life!
The Buick Enclave is the best vehicle out of that group of suvs!
Longer warranty, much less road noice & better trim!
Look"n at bout 20-22 hwy mpg & 15-17 all around!

My son bought an AWD Acadia in 2007 (the first year they came out) and we purchased a 2010 AWD last summer. We don't have that many miles on ours but he drives his non-stop in his business. Other than a tire pressure sensor malfunction he has had zero problems with his.

We really like our 2010 and I'm very impressed at how well the AWD does in snow and on ice. It's rock solid and is every bit as capable as my 4WD Sierra pickup. You can expect to crack 20 MPH with the AWD on longer trips but in the city it's pretty typical SUV mileage.

A couple of things to think about: Definitely consider the SLT1 or SLT2 models. They are really worth the difference in price over the lower end models (leather, 19" wheels, sun roofs (that don't leak), etc.). Also the later years seem to come with more standard features. Bypass the 2WD models - They aren't that much cheaper and you'll really be disappointed with the snow/ice performance.

I've rented an Enclave on vacation. I liked the vehicle, it was very well equiped and I will say the ride seemed a little more refined than the Acadia but something you should be aware of is that the Enclave has less towing capacity (if that's important).

Good luck in your search!

I have a 2007 that we bought new. For the most part I love the car.
We get around 16-20mpg normaly closer to 16. I have one complaint about to much wiggleing with the drivers seat. But apperantly I'm the only one that notices it. I've taken it to two different dealers.
I have had a few minor problems, all that when I have talk to owners of newer models or the other GM equilants, the problem was fixed by a design change.
The one problem I did have which is a huge one was one of my piston skirts broke off an fell down in the crank. GM did replace the engine at there expance. It was only in the shop for about a week and a half, so I did not feel like they left me hanging. Once they found the problem they took care of fixing it. But I could not beleave that a car with 36,368 mi had a piston skit broke apart.
My wife is the main driver and I have only used it three time to hall the sled north. But it does tow great and handles the snow and ice perfectly. The year we bought it we had a bad ice storm after Christmas and being on the fire department I had to go on some calls I took the Acaida to go to the station and had no problems. The AWD and traction control did its job perfectly.
For the the size and value of the Acadia I would buy another one. I wish GM would make a V8 model b/c it would help get it up to speed better when towing. But I think most car should be have a minium of V8's personaly.

Also here is a web site for you to look at Acadia Forum

Good luck

I just purchased a 2011 AWD GMC Arcadia. A few reasons I purchased the GMC Arcadia is one for the tow rating, 5500 lbs which is more than any other simular SUV. Also the fuel milage was better than my Chevy Silverado pickup. I did a lot of research and drove all the similar models. No problems and very happy with the GMC Acadia and the gas mileage is approximatley 17/24.

MY WIFE AND I purchased a traverse this past feb, she loves it. Its awd so it handles pretty good in the snow. I've only driven it a couple of times but it seems well built, the fit and finish is pretty nice. Its basically the same as the arcadia

Early production units had some trans problems. When I drove a saturn outlook with low miles I found the trans searching for gears constantly and it would downshift way too late when climbing any grades. I agree with coldone the buick is the best out of the three.

Have an 08. Great trans and lots of space. Tows my 20 foot bass boat better than my burban did through the mountains. The trans is was contributes to this and the fact that it's much quieter.
It's very easy to get and out of and tires have 40,000k and might get another 15k out of them. Fit and finish is good and as with all my GM trucks never any serious problems. The right headlight went out and it took about 20 min to replace.

1990 Silverado- 175,000k
1995 Silverado- 165,000k Best truck ever made:)
2001 Burban- 140,000k
2008 Acadia- 40,000

My cousin went from a 2007 Suburban to a 2010 Arcadia & they are not very happy with it. Claims there mileage avg of 16 isn't much better than the Suburban 14.

I rented a Saturn Outlook a few years ago with 500 miles on it.

I had that thing on the logging roads in the summer time doing 75, I beat the crap out of it for 3 days straight. It never had a single issue. Not even a rattle. It really impressed me. Scared the crap out of a few friends too. :)

I also have rented a Ford Edge. Pretty much the same treatment. IT was hurt. Rattling sounds, check engine light, think I was smelling burnt trans.

Acadia gets worse mileage than Burban when towing, but you have consider how hard the enigine has to work to pull the same wieght. Also the acadia is a big and heavy truck and has the towing capcity to match. This is not a CR-V or Highlander. You cant expect the same mileage.

We have had your Enclave for two years now and we really love it. average 18 mpg everyday driving and last weekend on road we got 24mpg at a constant 73 mph. I was really surprised this was only the second time. First time my wife was following me towing the camper at 60 mph. Awd is good when you hit slush it will off cruise and automatically down shift.

I tried hard to talk her into the Acadia but she like the looks of the Enclave and the Traverse was not out yet. Mechanically they are all the same. When you get inside the Enclave has no competitor. But it all comes with a price tag.

If were not for the next towing cap. of my pickup I would have the Adacia has my vehicle don't need all the fancy stuff that the wife has on her's.
