Saw this on Facebook last night:

Snowmobile Trail No. 11N, 11S and 160 (Gogebic County):
Snowmobile Trail No. 11N will be closed this season due to a loss of private land permission last year. A reroute is being sought, but will require new landowner permissions and a large bridge over the Black River. The Gogebic Range Trail Authority and the DNR will continue to look at all options to reopen the trail as soon as feasible.
Snowmobile Trail No. 11S will be closed this season. The trail has been closed for several years due to loss of land control. The Gogebic Range Trail Authority and DNR are continuing to look at strategies for reopening the trail.
Snowmobile Trail No. 160 will be closed through January or longer due to a bridge that was washed out over Mudd Creek this past summer. Permitting, engineering and construction of a new bridge is under way.

This is very sad news. I don't know the reason behind loosing the permission from the private land owner/owners but I just want to urge all snowmobilers to be aware of your surroundings and think about your actions and the consequences they impose. A trail closure negatively effects everyone who rides AND maintains the effected area. Increased traffic on alternate routes means trail conditions deteriorate at a faster rate and it puts that much more pressure on the groomer operators. Again, I don't know what happened but it's up to all of us to police ourselves and be good stewards of the land and to the sport of snowmobiling. As I'm sure many of you club members know, it's never fun dealing with disgruntled land owners but without their generosity, we don't have a sport to enjoy. Ride safe!!

Saw this update and thought I'd pass along

Trail 160 remains closed due to a bridge replacement across Mud Creek damaged by July 11th storm damage; however, the GRTA is seeking to open the southern half of the trail for local trail access to trail 2. The GRTA expects to reopen Trail 160 January 2017. Trail 11N & 11S remain closed for the season. The club does expect to reopen the trails 2017-2018 season, pending volunteer help to do so.
