This past weekend we covered a lot of ground and here is a re-cap:
Friday we rode from Lake Gogebic up to Copper Harbor via 13N thru Rockland/Greenland and drops into Twin Lakes. This trail was great as always. A nice lunch stop at Omer's before taking 3 over the bridge. We hooked a right thru Dollar Bay and took the club trail to Dreamland. There is one 1/2 mile section of whoops but otherwise there was plenty of snow on the road trails to keep the sleds cool as long as you weren't going too fast. A few pops at Dreamland before we enjoyed their great trail to Lake Linden. From there it was hop on 3 all the way to Copper Harbor via Brockway Mtn. We got in early enough that we gassed and oiled up before settling into a nice dinner at the Mariner and a long night at Zik's!
Saturday we had untouched trails out to High Rock and 134 had maybe 2 tracks on it. We did the Eagle Harbor/River Loop before taking 3 to 17 thru Calumet and back across the bridge. Another late lunch stop at Omer's before taking the most direct route to Lake Gogebic which was 3 to 13. Spent some quality time at Bergland Bay Bar before seeing our old buddy at Fishtales...some took the lake while others opted for 1S which was fantastic!
Sunday the early bird crew took 1S past Marenisco to the UP/WI border and back. Then took trail 2 to 8 and met the late crew in Wakefield. Lunch was at The Pit Stop in Bessemer before taking 160 out to Saxon Harbor and back. A really great trail once you get out of town. Last run was 2 to 8 back to Gogebic before settling in for the super bowl.
All in all...520 miles, very low traffic and trails in great shape.
I don't think the warm up was as bad in the Western UP and it sounds like all/most groomers went out last night smooth things up before some colder temps hit.
Those going up in the next week or so will have great trails!
