Going Off The Reservation

Been kicking around the idea for several years of getting ahold of some property in the U.P. and using it as base camp for fishing/ATV'ing/Snowmobiling/Kayak activities.
I know people who've been using property off the grid have been harassed and even thrown in jail in California by nuisance abatement teams. Not sure of any of these laws apply in MI, but I’d be looking to start off with a minimal camp with only some concrete pads and a rail container for storage or metal outbuilding. I'd eventually hook to the grid when I retire in 35-40 years to use the place in the summer time.

Would anyone have any suggestions or concerns for this type of arrangement?

Several camps on my lake with no power. Don't think its an issue.
You can even go solar or wind and never need the grid.

I just thought of a couple more I know of in the area too. Down on the chain there is a couple of hippy folk living the green life.
No running water or power.

Prob comes down to local municipalities. Find an area you like and do the proper research.

I'd be looking around the Land O' Lakes area since I'm more familiar with the fishing spots and trails.
Was thinking of a mobile fish hunt/toy hauler with solar and propane to use as primary housing for the 1st 5 or so years.
I know some places require that you build a perment dwelling within so many years.

Our property is zoned residential/recreational so you can have a camper or build with no time period. You must get a permit every year to have a camper if you don't have a dwelling.
