You should get some pretty good suggestions on this one.
My personal favorite is the course at the Keweenaw Mountain Lodge. It's a 9 hole course that I think was built in the 30's, along with the lodge. I'm sure there are nicer courses but it's just a fun experience to play there and some of the holes have a great view of Brockway Mountain. If you play the back tees, it will give you your money's worth.
I've only played George Young near Iron River, but I've heard some good things about Timberstone near Iron Mountain. Will be trying to play both this year. I recommend the George Young Rec. Complex course. Great course and you can't beat the price. It's a daily pass, so plan on playing more than 18 if you're up for it.
1) George Young, Iron River (as already posted)
2) Wild Bluff Golf Course Bay Mills Resort, Brimley (they play a Pro-Am here every year)
3) Lac Vieux Desert Golf Course, Watersmeet (new back 9 makes this course one of the coolest I have seen in the U.P.)
x2 with caged beagle on george young and lac vieux desert. heard good things about the one on the ski hill in iron mtn as well but havent tried it yet.
Greywalls in Marquette, I am a golf course superintendent and try to play once each summer. I cannt say enough how impressive the course is each time i have played. The conditions are always tops and the views along with the design are well worth the rates.
They have a great golf package through the Island resort in Harris, fun casino and you can pick a package that includes Greywalls, Timberstone, and the course at the casino, Sweatgrass, all great courses, you can't go wrong. Have also played Watersmeet and George Young, they are not quite as nice but are still fun courses.
