Heading up to Eagle River wisconsin this weekend and just curious if anybody has played the eagle river golf course up there. I am thinking of bringing my clubs and golfing in the northwoods so any advice (how the course is, green fees etc.) would be greatly appreciated. TIA!!

Eagle River is ok. Depends on what level of course your looking for, but if your main focus is boating and being in the northwoods and doing lake activities, but you're a golfer at heart, that course will at least fulfill a little of the void. Don't remember rates but I'm sure you could find them someplace. I'd rather go to George Young in Iron River, MI. About a half hour from downtown ER to the east, then slightly north. I thought is was a better trac but its been a few years since I was at either course. Here is a link www.georgeyoung.com/

You can park your boat at Lake Forest golf course and play a quick 9. Its on the channel between Voayager and Eagle Lake towards the Eagle Lake end. They also have a big deck party on Sundays from 3:00 to 7:00. Lots of interesting people there! There is also Eagle Rvier Memorial Golf course in town right past the bridge going up 45 north to the right. I am not a golfer so I can't really comment on how the courses are but where else can you pull up in your boat, play a round then hop back in your boat and go fishing or skiing. My father in law is a big golfer and said one of the best courses he has ever played was down in Rhienlander which is about a half hour south west down 17. Sorry but I dont remember the name.

Eagle River Municipal is a great north woods course, and they usually have some pretty good deals on twilight golf. It is a tight, tree lined course, with the exception of the first 3 holes. Very fun layout IMO, and conditions are usually pretty nice.

Here is an idea that probably wouldn't work for you as usually travel to/from days with family are reserved for just that, but in case you can fit a round into your travel plans, go to Sentry World in Steven Point. That would beat anyplace we have all talked about. Good luck, no matter where you head you should have a good time.

Trout Lake in Arbor Vitae is a real nice layout. Played there earlier this year, and the course was in immaculate shape. 10-15 minutes north of Woodruff on Hwy 51. Highly recommended, and a pretty short jaunt down 70 West from Eagle River. Have fun!!!

I also like Timber Ridge in Minocqua.
