They are spammers and don't care. Not interested in being part of our community, only finding a spot where they can spread their spam.

We are looking into spam filters for the board.

I was concerned a 12 year old kid clicking into that one. Good job. What should we do to tip mods off when something like that pops up?

Pete,

Some of us are listed as Jr's since the new forum came in. I lost my post count once we switched over, but I agree completely with some of the posts we are getting.

John and mods do a great job!!!!

Dan & Erik:
I know you guys & I lost my post count too & I didn't mean all Jrs... I'm sorry if you took it that way. You guys add value to the site & are a good thing. When I have seen conduct that is off the wall & not JD like I click into their profiles & they have made 1-3 posts I start thinking what is happening here? Mean spirted posters & spammers need to be driven out by the JD community. I'm listed as Sr but did not think much of the status of being a senior. Perhaps John should think about different status levels for members via quality & quanity of posts. There is a certain amount of human resepct I exspect from everyone in the JD community but perharps a status level that is earned on this website is a good thing & will help to self police posting behavior. Get outside the rules & lose your status. What do you guys think? If it would help John may be worth it?

Do they really need more work?

I guess I don't even bother looking at "member status". You post something stupid, you get called on it.

The board has the option to rate posts and then the users develop a status based on all the ratings, but I did not want to open up that can of worms. Too much potential for problems of their own.

The bottom line is these folks making the spam posts are NOT regular users. They ONLY sign up to spam. They could care less about what we think of them, only that someone might click their spam ad and then they make some money. So anything we could do to try and "shame" them is a total waste of time.

Now, if someone wants to develop a hit squad...I'll pay for the ammo!

I don't think it is more work software tracks posts. I would not want it to just be a quanity thing but status is important to many of the members. I'm thinking do more with less as membership is growing just need to implement a plan & the rest takes of of itself thru website culture.

You're using vBulletin - just enable mod/admin approval for account generation.

Also - can you enable quick reply? :)

I'll take a spot on that list!!!!!!

Whitedust,

Sorry I took it wrong. I guess I was a little touchy after a previous post where that was brought up. I try not to post to anything contraversial and try to keep it to what we all love, snowmobiling, snow, the U.P. and the outdoors, but sometimes I just can't keep quiet.

Most everyone here at this site I consider extended family!!!!

Thanks Whitedust and John

Is there somewhere where you can click on this board that would enable me to email all the mod's at once? Or do I have to find all of your profiles and do it individually?

what is that little red triangle in the right upper corner of a post for? When you move your cursor over it it says "report post". Who does that go to if you report a post/thread? Can it be set up to go to all mods?
