Go in to garmin outlet store on line. The garmin colorado 300 is a great choice. It has a 3 inch screen and is a handheld unit. Gps is 199 dollars and worth every penny. GO into to gps city.com and there are really nice cradle and mount for your handlebars. The gps is waterproof, so there is no need for a case. There is a website called sled gps .com that has memory cards with preloaded trail maps for michigan, wisconsin, ohio. and illinois. The memory card shows all trails and quite a few of the forest roads. Cost for card is about 40 dollars inserts into colardo 300. good Luck

I have the Garmin 60csx. It was a bit complicated to figure out all the features on it, but once you get it down, it is a pretty good unit. I would also recommend a Garmin. SquarePants gets my vote on the sledgps.com software. I have ordered two of them so far. Had another map software previously and did not like it at all. Sledgps was much better. Never used the colorado 300 but sounds decent. Get a 12 volt cigarette lighter type plug in for your sled so you don't have to mess with the batteries all the time.

Garmin my vote 2

Forget the cig adapter goto mymotomount.com for the hardwire power cable, matter of fact look for the mount there also (eh) ! lol. I use an etrek legend hcx works great I don't know if all do it but pointer and screen moves with you on the trail so you know where your at - at all times.

I've got a Garmin 276C with red pine mapping maps and it works great. Large screen, color, no problems. What ever you get make sure you take it inside with you or it may walk away.

I have a Garmin GPSMAP 60 series and I love it. I have used the unit in the snow/rain/mud for years now, and not a single issue.

What ever unit you get, be sure to get a set of topo maps for it as well.

I don't bother with loading trail maps on mine...these often change from year to year, and not worth the hastle.

Thanks for the tips

Thanks guys for the tips and I'm going with a Garmin Nuvi 500 or 550 as it's seems to be the fan favorite.

See you on the trails!
