Any recommendations on GPS for snowmobiling? Want one that can be used for on trail and off trail...don't like being lost. :)

As big of a screen as you can get, and Red Pine mapping for trail maps. Stay away from touch screen too.

Garmin GPSMap 60 series.

Mine has held up to years and years of use and abuse on snowmobiles, boats, and dual-sport motorbikes.

I have had a Garmin Nuvi 500 for many years mounts very easy and easy to read. I use Red Pine mapping and have never gotten lost unless I wanted to. With the Nuvi you can put in a destnation just like with a car and it will take you there. I have a video on You-Tube, Look up( Lac to Sayner ) on it and you can see it mounted on my sled.

I see you are in Northern Illinois, if you can make your way up to Cabelas in Milwaukee, I have picked up a couple of "open box" units in their outlet shop instore. Big discounts. You could try calling ahead to see what they have in stock.
I have a Etrax hcx - small - and the batteries will last me sledding all week. Also picked up a 60csx - bigger - batteries good for maybe 2 days of riding.

Another for the Garmin Montana Not cheep but grate for cars/trucks, sleds, atv boats, hiking, The most versatile unit I have ever use. Its a touch screen and have not had any problems. Works with gloves on. You can get it with a camera if you like.
It allows you to put profiles for anything you wish to build. I have some made for snowmobiling, ATV, hiking, cabin. All with the maps I wish for the activate i want at the push of a button. I have use it on the sled without any cold temp issues.

Ive been using the Garmin Oregon 200 for several years, with Red Pine Mapping. Works good for what I use it for. I've had it on the bike, in the truck, and on the sled. It is the handhled size, plenty big for the sled, mounted on the handlebar, brake side. Sorry no pics anymore though.
