Grand island info?

Can anyone tell me if the ice is safe to get out to grand island this weekend? Looking to get on the ice around foggys in Christmas. Thank you guys for any and all info

I wouldn't try that route but then I don't do ice...ice is for cocktails I think either from the boat ramp west of the Holiday Inn express or the main boat ramp in Munising would be a safer alternative...we did see ice shanties WAY out there on Tues...the reason to avoid the Christmas route is there is a marked whirlpool somewhere over that way that always has thin ice around it....there's a buoy but I don't know how far it's effects radiate....

Its all good - Watch out for ice heaves. They are ski removers. You will generally see the beaten path all take.

did you enjoy the moguls? I heard the trails on the island were beat. Echo Lake was untouched and got tore up

Rode to grand island to check out the ice caves not ride the trails. Did not even bother trying. Ice caves are pretty awesome though!!
