Any place in the north eastern sector, of Itasca County, will be fine. Here's a couple examples from Timber Wolf Inn.
First day was a 75 mile +/- ride around Scenic State Park in green. Road counter clockwise.
Trail through the Scenic State Park turns single track. Barely one groomer width wide. Got a little bumpy, in places, slower going, very scenic, very ridable.
The Pizza Parlor, in Big Fork, has great food.
Second Day was the slightly southern route in blue. Road clockwise.
Ended up being around 100 miles +/-.
Scenic Pines, to the east, is a great pit stop. Fuel is about 100 yards away. We had lunch at Cedar Creek on the Soumi trail. Fuel just down the road at the Outpost convenience store. Soumi trail is Very twisty. Beautiful ride. Trail base gets skinny in places but very manageable.
Third day was the northern route in purple. Road clockwise.
Ended up being about 140 mile +/- route. Fuel is at Big Fork or Effie. Fill it up. Next fuel is Togo. Togo spur is pretty rough. Don't think they groom it at all. The couple miles is worth it. Great food.
Going south, out of Togo, the "Circle this, and Circle that" trails can get confusing.
Pay attention and make your way to the Taconite.
We stopped at Scenic Pines again for a little pit stop and fuel.
You'll have a great time. Little warmer than last weekend too. Launching at -10 to -12f takes more planning. LOL!
We would try to be rolling around 9am. That usually brought us back between sunset & dusk. Enjoy!
A Garmin, with either the Red Pine or VV Maps, is very helpful. You'll still need the paper map to better see "the big picture". Cheers.
