Our group "Team Balls Deep" had a great trip to the UP once again this year.
We would like to thank Matt and Kandace of the Bluff in Rockland for the great apartment that we rented from them. It was perfect for our group and the location worked out for us too.
Thanks Don and Donna at the Mosquito Inn for EXCELLENT food and service! Those wings were frickin' hot, but very good. We will definately be back next year! If you have never stopped there before, do. You will not be disappointed.
Got to meet ScottiKing at the Mosquito, hope you have better luck with that 1000. Talked with Team Kesslers at the BFH, good to see you again Fred, Giga and Mustard. Hope you got the crap cleaned out of your shorts Giga after the near roll down the hit, you had a good save.
Thanks to all the groomers and the hard work they do on the trails. We had good trails every day and when they would start to get rough a groomer would magically appear.
Our trip was really good. On Wednesday afternoon/evening we headed to Lake of the Clouds and on the way we hit some play areas and had a few good stucks. We ate at the Konteka for supper. The food was great as always.
Thursday was a day from ****. Started off at a great time, got 9 miles down the trail my belt blew and took out my belly pan, belt cover and crap everywhere. Had to go to Pat's and get a cordless drill and zip tie it back together. We were off then to Big Bay for lunch...We were making good time then a newbie in the group missed a corner and hit a tree around the Sturgeon River area. He was ok and the sled was rideable. We stopped in Lanse to have lunch then headed to Big Bay. We stopped and played in the Mt. Arvon area. I had a great stuck that took 2 hours to get out of. There was a good 4 ft up there. We made it to BB and the poor newbie was ready to go home now. His sled was all over the place and his arm were sore. We finally made it back home around 9:00 pm tired and hungry.
Friday we headed to the BFH via back country. It was a bit icy, 2 guys in the group climbed it from the left side no problem. After that we headed to the Mosquito and then to another play area on the way home.
Saturday we played off of trail 13 and headed to the lake for a weiner roast. Played on and off all day on the way to Twin Lakes. Stopped at Krupps and had a snack and headed back the same way taking a lot of logging roads on the way home. Loaded up and called it a trip.
I will have pics later, just have to sort through them.
