Greenland block

hey john heard it will cool down in the next few days and that a Greenland block will set up for a while i have heard of this during the Winter is this something that can last thru Winter causing it to be colder this winter?

A high amplitude, blocking pattern, is seen for next week. It will be responsible for bringing late October like temps to much of the central US.

Patterns such as these can repeat themselves, but do not stick around on a seasonal scale. The setup next week may be caused in part by the developing El Nino. Such patterns have a greater chance of happening in October during developing El Ninos.
