Guiding Tony Stewart and Larry Bird

Well I'm a full time fishing guide for Smallmouth and Muskie in Indiana and this wednesday is a big day on the water for me. Myself and 2 of my guides have been hired to do a Tony Stewart Foundation Outing to benefit Riley Children's Hospital here in Indiana. The event also has a few other celebrities and outdoorsman (like Johnny Morris owner of Bass Pro Shops) involved and is a pretty cool thing for my guide service to be a part of. It is held at a private engineered smallmouth lake at this guys residence that is an absolute incredible fishery. I have pre-fished it twice for the event with both days being 95+ degrees and we smoked the smallies between 17-22 inches. Last Friday we tagged a smallmouth that if it is caught during our fishing day it is worth $100,000 and if caught during our 3 hour "tournament" then it is worth $200,000 to go to Riley (the lake is 10 acres so it could actually happen). Each celebrity and businessman thats is involved has donated $10,000 each to Riley for this benefit so it has already raised over $100,000 from just the 12 heavy hitters that are involved. Needless to say I'm stoked that my guide service was chosen for this event. Pray for good weather for wednesday!!

Maddog24 thats sweet!! You were in my stomping grounds... I guide out of a custom built jet boat and cover the section from Broad Ripple/Nora all the way up thru Strawtown just north of Noblesville. Most of my trips are in the Noblesville area from Clare Dam south. We need some rain bigtime around here, just had the most dry August on record so the river is running a bit low and slow. Awesome to hear about your success despite the low water, the White River is truely a gem when it comes to smally fishin'. Next time your in my neck of the woods look me up www.indianafishingadventures.com or I'm always game on a sled trip if you need an extra to make a trip happen.

That sounds awesome! It sounds even better fishing for smallies on the river. I fish the Western Basin of Lake Erie for those guys. They are my favorite species to catch out there. Drop shots are my favorite.

Good luck tomorrow!

Like the pics ubee, thanks for posting. No pay for this one, we could have but it was for charity so we donated our time and damn I had Tony Stewart in my boat all day - that was pay enough. Man what a killer day!!! One of my other guides had Larry Bird with him all day and my third guide boat took the other participants in the "Tournament". Every hour we came back to the dock and picked up participants to get to fish with Tony and Larry. The day started at 9:00 am and ended after a awesome dinner and trophy presentation at 9:00 pm (Tony got ugliest fish trophy). Oh, we had a free throw contest with Larry Bird rebounding our shots, how killer is that. Let me tell you that both of these guys were super cool, laid back and were just like you and me (except I'm poor). I really enjoyed the whole event and it was a huge success for Riley, it raised over $100,000. I took lots of pictures of everyone with smallies and fish that they caught but I'm not exactly sure what I am able to post as public on the internet. There was alot of camera's and media stuff going on so I would guess its public anyway but Tony has invited me to "teach" him how to fish his private lake on his property here in Indiana and I don't want to screw anything up. All in all it was a highlight day in my guiding career. Here's one pic anyway for now, I'm the little guy on the left of Tony. The other 2 besides Larry Bird are my guides that helped. I'll see about getting some more pics up or I plan to have them up on my website sometime soon.
