I have a 2006 crossfire 700. THe hand warmers barely keep my hands warm on high. Any suggestions? do the elements go bad and need to be replaced? Thanks

Don't know about that specific model, but we stumbled on in 2008 1 of our sleds had the bars working as a heat sink. You can fill with " Great stuff" or cork, we added the old style cartridge heaters inside the bars and the stock slide over under the grips and just wired them hi/low. It gets too hot on high but that was the solution I came up with in DEC 07. I think BRP had slide over cork pads for some of their grips now , It goes over the bar / under the heating element. I have never heard of heaters burning out just the high or low, they normally both go , since it is a resistance thing. BUT I could be wrong. If they get warm I would bet on the " heat sink " thing going on.

Had the same issue with 2006 F6. Filled the bars with expanding foam. I then installed Hi Power grip elements (extended) from www.rsiracing.com. Finished off the application with their Gel Wrap grips. You will need to cut to length after wrapping. I found the grips to be quite comfortable and grippy.

Independant elements can go bad, as they are 2 individual heating coils. If the ground breaks, than they will both fail. If you can isolate the wires to that grip, use an OHM meter set to 20vAC and see if you have voltage between the ground and both pos. wires, one for high, one for low. In either case, if they don't work you will have to replace them.

Another option, one that I use is to put on the sissy mitts(gauntlet style covers), I like to wear MX style gloves, and I stay warm on the low setting.
