hand warmers

On my 95 z 440 about half way thru last season the hand warmers and thumb warmers stopped working. this year i checked all the connections on the switch, and still nothing. the warmer indicator light on the tach even comes on. is there a fuse somewhere for the warmers? or could all 3 elements simply just go out at the same time?

Try useing a test light on the wires going into the warmers with the engin running.if you get a light you have power to them and it is the heat element. If no light trace back on wires checking for voltager and find point where you are loseing power.

If the light is coming on, sounds like the problem is downstream, closer to the grips or the grips themselves. It's possible you have a break in the circuit in one of the grips. You can test that part of the circuit, might have to peel a tiny bit of insulation back from each wire just before it enters the grip. If you have power there, it has to be the grip circuit itself.

Could just be that they need replacing. I had to replace the hand warmers and grips on the wifes 03 MXZ. Pretty simple and wow what a difference.

If all 3 elements burned out, I would suspect a bad voltage regulator. BUT that typically shows up with burnt out headlamps too.

If your headlights are dim, then perhaps the voltage is too low and the elements are not getting enough power.

Start the sled & check voltage at the accessory plug near the dash. Use the AC scale and you need about 13 to 14 volts when running above idle.
