Happy new home? No, not really; more like happy old home!

I can imagine the thrill to be in Nora's grandparents' home.

I know I sure would be thrilled to be living in my maternal grandparents' old farm house north o' Bruce Crossing (it's still there)!

What memories, for all the summer vacations I spent there, and plenty of winter visits as well.

From the smell of the firewood stacked in the woodbox in the entryway to grandma's bread baking in the wood stove, and on weekends the aroma of the freshly baked nisu (a.k.a.pulla) a.k.a (click →) cardamom bread.

The incredibly loud ticking of the old schoolhouse clock on the kitchen wall.

Oh was that clock loud! You could hear it throughout the house!

Sitting on the woodbox against the wall at one end of the toasty warm woodstove on winter mornings, sipping on that ensimmäinen aamu kuppi kahvia (first morning cup of coffee)!

Aaah, memories! And now you and your family get to live some Norske minner!

Thanks!

We love it. It sure feels like home already!

Funny about the clock. Nora's brother is bringing their grandparents grandmother clock up today!
