Has anybody changed out the rear spring on a Rush?

Just got the machine (2010 600) and figuring it out. How do I change out the rear spring? Looks to me like one bolt on the shock and thread off the adjuster is all there is to it, but nothing can be that easy!

LMAO......I thought about changing my spring on my 11 LX and then on my Adventure but I was too cheap. My dealer actually talked me out of it. I go 275 and have the spring set for about 230 and the sled rides like a dream. You are supposed to set it about 25 lbs under your weight anyway so an extra 20 or so did not hurt the ride at all. If you do change it make sure you grease up the shock threads good. You might even check into the thrust bearings/washers the 11 and 12's have on now and add them.

Easier than going on a diet!

Thanks! I'll try it with the stock spring if we get any snow around here!

I just changed the front track spring on my fusion 600, for the same reason listed by dcsnomo. I was surprised that it is shorter than the spring it replaced. Hopefully it works out...leaving tomorrow for my first ride of the year (took the old spring with just in case).

If you are under 250# with gear you could get buy with the stock set up. If your anything over 250, go with the fat boy spring. My 2011 PRO R bottomed out like crazy with the stock spring cranked up all the way. The new "large frame guy" spring was much better and solved the problem. My drivers license claims I weigh 265.

My 2011 Retro Rush rides so much better since I went to the heavy spring. Take the seat off. Remove the bottom shock bolt. Raise the gas tank up enough to access and remove the top shock bolt. The shock comes right out. Go to your Dealer with about 70$ and bring home the new spring. Switch. I Weigh 230, 6' 1" so I set the new spring at it's minimum setting. To me this seems to make better sense because now my new spring uses a full range of motion whereas before the spring was wound up tight before it started in motion. I also loosened both my front ski shocks to minimum setting for softness. I run SLP SLT skis with 6" carbides. For me these changes make my sled seem so much better than last year when it was stock. We do ride a lot of miles in a day and at a fast pace. I like this sled alot even with the inside ski lift. I have 3000 miles on now so I 'm good for one more year then I may go with the Switchback. Good luck! Keep buying American!
