venturenorth,
we are doing that same trip this weekend just in reverse. Were starting in Minocqua and heading over to Chipewwa Flowage. Were taking trail 10 then hitting Tuscobia to get over there. We want to make good time to play in the HAyward/Cable area that day. Staying the night at Deerfoot. On the way back were taking the northern route to Cable and over, much more snow that direction.

On a bag trip this year, I would avoid any lowland trails if I could. There are so many areas that can't be groomed because of unfrozen swamps.

I would drop down from the Casino onto the Chippewa Flowage then drop down to the Tuscobia Trail and run that all the way to Park Falls. Then get onto TR111 and take that across northern Price Co into Vilas Cty. After that it's either run Cor. 10E to the Minocqua area or run the road trails to the LDF area.

We ran that route but reverse last year and that 10e trail is a blast!!!

Ken - I can tell you that the Tuscobia has plenty of snow as does the Park Falls area.

From Park Falls, take 111E along the northern edge of Price Co. until you hit Springstead Rd. which is a FR route. Take this north to Springstead then continue north and jump onto the Turtle Flambeau Flowage. (it is marked and safe)

Take the southern E/W trail on the Flowage to the east that dumps you off at Murray's Landing. Then take this road route trail all the way to Manitowish. From there you decide which is the best way to go. Either down the grade to AV/Woodruff or the trail that parallels Hwy 51.

Make sense? I've ridden this route many times. Yes....a fair amount of RR grade and road route running. BUT...in a year like this year, it's the only way I'd go......avoid any lowland trail this year when on a bag trip.
