Hello Riders!!
Mother Nature finally showed up this winter!! The snow started in the early hours this morning and continued well into the afternoon. The county received a good 4-6", being conservative with that number until reports are in. Some areas perhaps more. We are in for a great weekend of riding, actually with the new snow and the cold temps forecasted in the next week we should be set for a great couple of weeks!! The temps will be cold but it's snowmobiling, we dress for the occasion! The snow only recently died down so groomers are starting this late afternoon and tonight. We will report more specific snow fall numbers as well as groomed areas tomorrow morning but for now the ones we know are:
9 and 3 between Round Lake and Lost Land Lake
3/5 from Lost Land Lake to Reel Livin Resort to Moose Lake
Seeley Hills - 31/8/63
31N near Birchwood to Washburn County Line and into Washburn County, they will complete a pass around Long Lake as well.
Again, many more groomers are out and/or will be out in the next 24 hours or less but we will wait for their official updates.
Lakes are very snow covered now and will be good riding, please stay on the marked trails as it becomes hard to spot hazards off of the trail just under new snow. Trail 18 entrance/exit onto and off of the Chippewa Flowage in front of R & R Bayview Resort is still closed. The cold weather on its way may help this soon and we will update when given the green light but for now, PLEASE stay out of this barricaded area for your safety but also to allow the area to refreeze well.
Surrounding Counties; Ashland, Bayfield, Washburn, Price open. Rusk and Barron partially open (see Travel WI for more detailed reports from those counties).
You're in for some great riding! Dress warm and be safe!! And if you want to get a chance to win some money keep your eyes peeled for the "Sawyer County Snowmobile Friendly" signs out there and take a selfie with it tagging #sledsawyer2020 and the Hayward Lakes Convention Bureau! What a fun way to show your great times in Sawyer County!
