Heading to Mercer Friday, was hoping to get a report on trail condition. I was on the trail report threads and did not see anything posted. If anyone has the real poop I would like to here it. Thanks to All.

Mercer Sno-Goers just posted that trails got pretty beat up from all the traffic but they were supposed to be getting 3-6" so they were hoping that helps.

We rode there this past weekend the main trails were very rough. they was a lot of traffic on Saturday night we met well over 100 sleds on one trail. We rode Mercer to Sayner then up to Star lake and back through Winchester.
But at least we got to ride.
Did put on over 200 miles

Go north. They were in terrible condition on Saturday, and I do not believe they will survive a warm up without significant snow.

Mercer was horrible Thursday - Saturday !! I know it might sound dumb... But we rode south on the bear skin and they were the best all the way down to tomahawk.

I think will will leave Mercer and head towards Lando. I have a Michigan trail permit already and it seems the trails are better that way. I'm hoping. Thanks for the help!! Will ride into Michigan.

Dumb? It's always been better south of Mercer than around Mercer.......my opinion anyways. Head south and west of minocqua on most years for best riding.

Mercer is terrible right now--and LANDO is just slightly better reported from a friend who lives there. You can go just about anywhere right now--IF ITS A WEEKEND--Trails will be beat....Just the facts--

I just called him, he said " I guess I'll shut the groomer down and considered myself fired. I feel bad for all the folks up here for the rest of week/ weekend"

In all seriousness, I am sure they are trying. They don't have a lot of snow to work with. Have a little patience.

Venturenorth. Do you understand respect? These groomer drivers volunteer there time to do the best they can to give you the best trail to ride on.

And you can sit behind a computer screen and crab about the trail not being good enough for you. Try this. Get off your butt and go volunteer your free time and help.

Way to stand up for those that work so hard. Kenmuraw thank you for showing your support. I'm not on that club. But I'm sure it makes them feel good to hear from people like you. Thanks

Mercer area was horrible Friday/Saturday/Sunday last weekend. West of Mercer did not look like they had a groomer thru all season, there was enough snow to knock off the high spots of the 3 foot whoops, but Mercer being Mercer, hardly ever seems to groom... same as other years.....

Mercer's got some trails that aren't good even in the best snow years. Lowland, swampy areas on the east side of Mercer and 12W out to the Flowage to name a few.

A gajiliion sleds and (not nearly enough) LES snow make for a tough situation.

Rode Mercer area for 10 years - all around Iron County and they just don't do all that well with grooming. Combination of too many sleds and strange philosophy of grooming time. It was rare I saw really good trails between Fisher Lake, Flowage and Hurley area, maybe 20% of the time. I always avoided Eagle River area when riding out of Iron Cty because I thought "too many sleds", but Eagle River trails are light years ahead of Mercer. No comparison - shockingly good generally. A bad trail system week in ER is comparable to a GOOD week in Mercer area. No exaggeration.

Please, I did not mean a personal attack on the groomer or trail boss, just trying to draw attention...
Agreed, , it was probably not the right way to go about it.......just venting from a very frustrating 3 or 4 day ride thru that area......
maybe some equipment was down, but it has happened several times.
I am always appreciative of the hard work these guys do, and I am a member of 3 clubs, even tried to volunteer to groom last year.
there have been many posts about this, good and bad.........I am just looking for an explanation.

I too was in Mercer for 4 days last weekend. And yes, the trails were not good at all. But we still got to ride and have fun with our group. I guess some of it is your expectations. I did not complain or get frustrated. I would just figure there are reasons for it and that we can't all expect to know what they are
