This is an update for Superior Snowmobile Club trail work on Sept. 16, 17 and 18
Yes, if you have ATV and can bring, it will be useful. If you do not have ATV, most areas can be reached on the trail by other vehicle. Yes, you will need to have Michigan ATV permit $16.25. (sorry, can't get around this as it is governed by DNR)

Tools that will be useful, if you have, chain saw, loping shears, screw gun, post hole digger.

Free lodging has been offered by Wildlife Refuge Cabins in South Range 906-482-1001 and Krupp's Resort in Twin Lakes 906-288-3404. If you haven't made your reservation, please call as soon as possible.

For the trail workers on Friday, Parkview Lodge and Mosquito Inn is providing free trail lunch. On Saturday, Deb at Krupp's Mini-Mart and Dawn Novak (wife of one of our volunteer groomer operators) is providing lunch to trail workers.

Saturday nite's cook-out and bonfire is for anyone that has helped with trail work whether they worked 1 day or all 3 days. This will be at Krupp's Resort with food provided and prepared by Richard & Sandy. It is BYOB. Feel free to wear boots if you want as it get pretty deep-the stories will roll.

If you happen to live within driving area and don't need lodging, please call 906-288-3404 to let us know what days you will be able to help so we can organize work groups ahead of time. If you have already made contact with us, you don't need to call again.

The other reason we ask that you let us know is so we have an idea on how many lunches need to be prepared for Friday and again for Saturday. Also, so we have an idea on how many will be coming for the Sat. nite cook-out.

Lots of work - Lots of fun (2 reroutes to brush and sign, bridge to rebuild, and all the other regular brushing and signing.

It is our understanding that the law states you must wear a helmet when operating ATV. However, in the past we have been told that if doing trail work, and with a work group, and riding slow on ATV, you must have helmet riding on your ATV and you should be acceptable.

Michigan ATV permit

Where is the closest place to purchase the Michigan ATV permit? Is sold at Krupp's Mini-mart? The bp gas station in front of the park?

Also (not a requirement, just wondering) does the mini-mart sell Keweenaw Brewing Company's beer? :) For after work consumption of course...

Paul, yes Krupp's mini mart does sell atv permits, and yes they do have KBC in stock, Lift Bridge, Black Widow, and the Red Jacket Amber. :D

What a great 3 days! All the work that needed to get done got done.

I got to meet a lot of new people, they all rawk! Snowmobilers are a special breed of people for sure!

I was on the reroute crew for trail 13 on Saturday, 52 new posts and signs had to be put in. A huge THANKS to Dave and Lori Sleeman (Wildlife Refuge Cabins) for getting out there EARLY Saturday morning with the power auger attached to Dave's skidsteer, drilling the holes for for the posts for us, otherwise it would have been a LONG day!

Another GIGANTIC THANKS to Richard and Sandy Krupp for all the food for Saturday nights feed (and to the other people that also made food for the event), it was awesome, and a lot of fun. Thanks also to Deb and Jim Saur for the lunches on Saturday, and to Don and Donna from the Mosquito Inn for the lunches on Friday!

Can't wait till next year!

Here are a few pics I took.
