Help a bud that has Diabetes

Hey all you Techies....My bud that I ride with now has to take insulin to control his Diabetes.
Can you give me your input on how any of your friends deal with trying to keep their insulin warm?
We are looking for some kind of small body type pack that he can place his insulin and meter into.
His meter froze up the last time we rode. :(
Just curious on how everyone else deals with this issue.

Thanks in advance !!

Just a thought, Arctic Cat makes a 5 watt bag heater kit P/N 5639-837. It is meant for a handlebar bag, but I would think it could be adapted to any smaller bag. Wires direct to the sled to power. Not sure if it would be enough or not, but maybe worth a look.

Heated tank bag would have been my suggestion. Or what about an inner coat or liner pocket? If none of the above you could also try putting them in a little pouch (like a Crown Royal bag) with one of those disposable chemical handwarmers. Then put the pouch in a coat pocket, tank bag, saddle bag, windshield bag, etc.

come on fellas. Got to be more on this site that have had to deal with this. Let's give this guy some ways to keep riding! Handwarmers might do the trick, anyone else got any ideas? Keep em' coming!

When my son and I ride together, I put his meter in it's small case in my shirt pocket/pouch. Like a sweatshirt pocket in front of me. It never falls out. Bibs are tight enough to hold it.
My son now uses an insulin pump so he clips that on the inside on his pants pocket. stays warm.
If you need to keep a pen or vile from freezing, we found in the past that my heated dash bag wasn't quite warm enough. Need to keep it anywhere on your body inside your bibs and jacket. I would stick his pen in my front shirt pocket.
After we figured out what works, it really is no big deal. My son could easily carry his own meter too.
If he uses a simple one touch, he could put it right in a front pants pocket. Test strips could get colder in a jacket pocket.

Really like going on a hike in summer. See where your gear fits. Except some cant freeze.

Ride with others too that deal with this, pen in front shirt pocket, meter in any inside bib\jacket\pants pocket, body heat keeps it from freezing.

Thanks all for the replies. Did some riding over the weekend and keeping all supplies on his body as suggested seems to be the ticket. We will really see after Superbowl because we are booked in the UP then. Gonna be a cold trip for us old timers this year ! 25 years and counting with the BoyZ !

TX Again !
