Ok, I am thinking about planning a trip someplace
but there is a little problem,
I right now am sled less, so I need a rental
I want to rent a good sled, with some performance, not a 500 trail sled, say a good 600 or 800!
my old sled was a cat 1000 with a little work to it, but needed money so, it had to go!
I'm from PA, so I know I will be driving to where ever
I did, WY a couple times, always great, but I am more of trail rifer, and few folks out there were into that, off trail is the name of the game I think out there, sad too, as the trails were awesome, flat fast and overly groomed (least where I was)
and I am not interested in Canada, or NY and east coast places, been to many(Maine was always a fav)

and I am looking to go by myself so if possible,( all my riding bud's have grown up and with a wife kids, and or budgets don't allow anymore, or just cannot get away!, )

SO< I would maybe like to meet up with a few folks, and maybe tag along if on some trail rides

I would also need a place t rent to stay at, preferably trail side or close so i can ride from where ever I stay!
I am 41, so not as young as I was, but not an old fart yet!

I lost my job and am just discusted, adnd need a vacation to maybe refresh me

not the smartest way to spend my money right now but , heck, you only go around once right!

so I am open to suggestions if anyone has any
so, anyone have any ??

Are you really open for sugestions? from what you posted it sounds like we guess what you already have planned and confirm it for you. You sound more stressed than anything. Ride where there is snow and enjoy it.

Come out for John's Ride In and do the poker run. You'll have people to ride with, meets lots of good people, and experience what the UP is all about.

Keith, that is a great idea! doesn't cost all that much and you get a sovenir t shirt out of it. And actually meet a bunch of other JDeer's. (I go for the t-shirts).

The Ride In is the first weekend of Feb.

http://johndee.com/snowfest/2012snowfest.htm

You can stay at the Ramada and rent sleds from M&M Powersports right there. There is an airport not too far away if you wanted to fly.

The banquet is in Atlantic Mine, MI.

You could stay at the Wildlife Refuge Cabins in South Range or somewhere in Houghton.

Dan's Polaris is also nearby and rents sleds.

Hope this helps!

My Dads brother actually comes out from PA every year to ride in Northern Wi and Michigan. If you are coming out by yourself I would start riding on a Monday and you would not have any problems finding a rental or a place to stay. If you have the time just find a place that rents etecs for the gas mileage and do some exploring. If there is snow any where north on Minocqua Wi would be fine. The Minocqua area has more trails that are winding and not all railroad beds, But the Up does have a lot to see. I would just get some maps a back pack and do some exploring you can always find people to ride with or set your dates and you can always find someone on here to ride with.

thanks, I would be going myself

I have done that in the past iin a few states, but its nicer to have some plans to ride with few fellow sledders

makes things a little bit more fun, and less worry's about if i do something stupid or a break down
Been there ,and its not a lot of fun, and I ain't as young as i was so, safety is a little on my mind
and why I am planing now for like late jan./feb(and sure snow is better that time frame as well)

but thanks for the adivce

Okay Stan, I suspect you better go and do the JDee event. Keith doesn't take no for an answer. Besides he can get the VIP room at Henry's for friday night.
