before taking my sled into the dealer and spending cash i may not need to, i thought i would try posting my problem on here...

last night i was riding my 2008 ski-doo mxz adrenaline 600 sdi and i began to hear a funny sound as i would accelerate. (typically between 5000 and 5500 rpm's.) it sounded like a low pitch, almost like my buddy's yamaha 4 stroke, than the typically higher pitched whine of a 2 stroke. i also noticed that during this noise the acceleration would slightly "dog-out" on me. it was extremely cold, about -5 true temp out.

any thoughts? should i take it in, leave it up to "weird things happen when it's that cold" or is it something i can fix myself?

look forward to hearing everyone's thoughts!

Take your exhaust of and check for cracks/leaks. Start at the y-pipe. I just had mine crack on my ZR. Rode for about 80 miles hit some pretty big stuff all in all a good ride. 10 miles from home riding across some chisel plow, my exhaust note suddenly changed. Looked things over, Y-pipe cracked.
good luck

Good place to start & could be losing back pressure causing the dogging. Check flange at pipe too known to go out on doos. This will cost ya but no big deal except for the money for new pipe or y pipe. Check used new will be a rip.

on a carbed skidoo the carbs have a heating line which can be turned on or off.dont know about your f.i.but when the carbs frost up it does sound like a 4 stroke somewhat.

My friend's sdi had the TPS wires rub under the air box causing it not to run right. After the wires were repaired it ran great.
