Help Please!!!! Question about poor running Honda VTX 1300

OK, I just bought a 2003 Honda VTX1300 with 1890 original miles. Its a very nice bike. Got a great deal on it. So here is my problem. The bike has a kuryakin Pro Hypercharger on it, and it is piped. When I got the bike it idled ok, bought from a deal and didnt get to ride first. (dealer is 1.5 hours away) Now that I have it at home the bike spits and sputters when you try and rev it up. I am able to drive it ok when I take things really slow and dont get on it. I thought it might just need a good carb cleaning so I took the carb apart and found it still had the stock jets in it. SO, I put a cobra jet kit in it and it seems to idle a little better and I can feather the throttle and rev it up but if I just go and give it a quick rev it spits and sputters and dies.

Its like its not getting enough air or to much air.....something. I havent rode the bike yet with the new jets in it either. The other thing is that the bike seems to run and drive ok with the choke on about a 1/4.

Anybody out there got any ideas what could be happening or going on....just trying to see if I can get it fixed without having to take to a dealer and pay out my *** for something simple if it is!!!! Thanks for any and all help!

Old gas in the tank?
Maybe like jeff said, possible clogged, very low miles so poss, junk in the tank.
If your pulling the choke on 1/4 to run better, then she's starvin for fuel.
You may need to adjust the air/fuel screw. Check with dealer to see what the specs are.
Put a weee bit of seafoam in the tank after you clean it out.

Then run it like ya stole it.

Check to make sure the exuast pipe is tightened down. My dirt bike would do the same thing when the exuast pipe was loose. Tightened it, and it was all better.

CV carb

Did you inspect the diaphragm or just take off the floatbowl when you rejetted and if you did make sure you did not pinch the diaphragm as this will cause poor acceleration. the fact that you have to run with 1/4 choke means to me its starving for fuel

Thanks for all the ideas.....but hey......I'm the idiot here! One thing I never checked was the spark plugs.....damm thing was only running on 1 cylinder.....That would explain the idleing ok, but poor running and no rev. But I am sure the new jetting will help it run better to. I guess sometimes you overlook the basics.

Be careful - Not sure if this model is fuel injected or has carbs - many times guys put aftermarket pipes and don't jet it properly - if you have a fouled plug could be the yahoo who owned before you never re-jetted again I am not sure about the fuel injection on this model.
