help with value of used sled

We are going to be selling my husbands 05 rage at the end of this season. It will have on
apprx. 9000 miles. My question is this. Kelly Blue book lists it at 4225. but we think that may be a little high considering the mileage. It is in excellent shape. The clutches were all gone through last fall, no dents, cracks or tears any where. He's not sure what he is buying for next season yet but if the tank bags and saddle bags won't work on the new
one those would be inlcuded along with the cover. Any thoughts on what a fair price would be? Dawn

Just checked past sales on E-Bay. Not much of anything is selling at this time. Although it is a Yami and you have done proper maintenence the 9000 miles will scare a lot of potential buyers. Also it is about the worst time of year to sell. Blue book values on sleds don't matter much. If you want to move it put it up for sale at about $3500 and be ready to go down to $3000. This would be more realistic. If you end up trading it towards a new sled in the fall the dealer will just steal it from you anyway. $3000 now would be better. Rages are getting kind of obsolete.

I noticed same thing on JD. Sleds just stopped selling & some good used stuff on here. What the heck happend? 05 Rage 9,000 miles ask $3500,$3600 anything above $3,000 sell price is good. Pat's sells Rages all the time good sleds for sit down rider 06 the best with RA 05 does not have RA.

Thanks guys. We were thinking around 3000.00 so we should be in the ball park. Might have to hang on to it till fall to get it though. Thanks for your input. Dawn

That brings up a good question. Is it better for the seller to sell a used sled towards the end of the season or at the beginning of the next season? Seems like there would be more buyers in the Fall, but the sled is technically older then, although it obviously wasn't ridden in the meantime. I'm thinking about selling mine, so I have the same decision to make. If I decide to sell, I'll probably end up trying to sell it in a month or so and relist it in the Fall if it doesn't go now.

Good example, look at the auction prices. Oct/Nov same sled same mileage is always $500 to $1000 more them March/April prices.

If you're going to buy, buy in March/April when people are trying to get rid of their sleds to support their summer hobby. If you're selling, wait until the first big snowfall in the early part of winter, right after the trails open. That's when you'll get the highest dollar for your stuff.
