Historic Rainfall

John,
I know there have been record rainfall totals recorded for different periods of time recently thru out the MidWest. But I came across this total for the Ludington, MI. along the Lk. MI. shoreline from the NWS Grand Rapids that shows a pocket of 12" - 15" of rain in a 12 HOUR PERIOD the nite of 6/12-13.
This has to be some kind of all-time record for MI ? Or the World !
What more can you tell us on this.

Chords-

I had some records for the US and World, but lost them.

I can tell you this: It has rained 12" in 42 MINUTES in Holt, MO for a world record.

Rainfall amounts of 12-15" in 12 hours is fairly common with land falling tropical systems as well.

That is still a lot of rain they got, though.

Thanks
I wus just kiddin on the world record.

But those kind of 12 hr or even 24 hr totals just seemed pretty rare for the Grt Lks area.

Ludington State Park had to be evacuated and closed down.

And the NCDC makes trying to find these kind of extreme records pretty tough.
