I was just curious if there is anyone who has stayed recently at the Country Inn and Suites in Houghton and could report back on how the access trail to trail 3 is. I stayed here last year and it was brutal.

Also, has anyone stayed at the Holiday Inn, in Houghton and do they have an access trail to trail 3?

Thanks in advance.

Both are too much of a hassle with the traffic .

Yup, stay at the Ramada, on the trail with bar and restaurant in-house and a snowmobile dealer dang near as close to get what you need.
Plus a Krist gas station up the hill and on-trail.

Yah but Ramada is always booked and Super 8 isn't far behind.
I was looking for Febr.19th midweek and they both say booked..

I just stayed there two weeks ago and not a big deal once someone showed me the way. It only took 10 minutes to get to trail 3, it involved driving sled down a couple roads but fairly easy.

Try calling the front desk for most up to date availability, hotels and bookings are wacked; or even try Hotels.com or one of the other secondary sellers.

Anybody ever stay at the Magnuson? Its not far from Ramada and website says indoor sled parking. Driven by it on my way to Calumet and Copper Harbor in my truck but not sure how it is getting in and out of. Guessing it may be a lil tricky with one ways but its only 3? Blocks from trail.

Downtown - Houghton
Quality Inn and Suites($$ a bit pricey w/remodel, breakfast), Magnuson($ reasonable w/breakfast) and Super 8($ reasonable w/breakfast) all have excellent access to the trail. The area also has numerous walkable bars and restaurants.
