Houghton Motels again

I had another post earlier on this topic but I didn't clarify enough. I am looking for information for NEXT WINTER. Is there trail access from any of the Motels behind McDonald"s on the hill? We would really like to stay in that area but don't want to trailer everyday. I know the Ramada is a nice place, but the parking lot is a little to hectic for us. We tried the Best Western in Hancock this winter but we ended up trailering everyday because the streets were bare.

The Super 8 in Houghton right down along the Portage, have to ride whoopties to get to the main trail, but all snow covered with only one parking lot (bare pavement) crossing.

Wong,
The hotel behind McDonalds, that's the Holiday Inn Express u are referring to?.... They have trail access..... the access is down the city streets about 2-3 blocks, runs in front of ShopKo, then drops you down on trail 3.... during the season most of those streets will be snow covered....late in season not so much..... Hope that helps..
Country Inn/Suites behind Walmart has trail access, but the first 3 miles will not be groomed with limited signage.... Just follow the tracks... and that trail will pop out across from Dan's Rentals, then groomed from there on....

I would put up with the aweful 'hectic' parking lot at Ramada, or perhaps try twin lakes or americinn in calumet. i wouldn't ride down the city streets they call 'trail access' to the other named motels in houghton.
